Chairman of UK Athletics - Guest of Honour at Sports Awards

On Tuesday 5 July,
Mr Warner is the Chairman of UK Athletics and is obviously a very busy and in-demand man with the Olympics just 388 days away from the opening ceremony in
Mr Warner plays a close role in developing UK Athletics strategy and plans for the future. He is passionate about athletics and as a keen club runner himself has a perspective of the sport from the grassroots level. Mr Warner is furthermore both a city business-man and leading commentator on financial matters, whilst lecturing about investment banking.
The prizes distributed during the morning were for the various sports in which boys and girls have participated in since September. It was another fantastic year for College sport with a number of district and regional titles in a number of sports as well as many individual achievements at district, county and even national level. This year’s highlights include National success in biathlon, the end of a 25 year wait for a County Cup Football crown, District Cup football victory for Year 7 – the first time since 1973 and a fantastic 3rd place at the UK Schools Cross-Country where Salesian were ranked the best Catholic school in the UK at cross-country – some quite remarkable achievements! This year
Over 241 colours were handed out during the ceremony, to 59 boys alone from Year 7.
